Severed Space

A huge reverb tail that ducks around the hit, blooms behind it and then gets cut off on command.

What it does

Severed Space starts with a large feedback-delay reverb, then gives the dry signal two different ways to control it: a continuous envelope follower ducks the wet signal around the source as it plays, while a separate onset detector opens a hard time gate the instant a new transient arrives, cutting the tail off on command rather than letting it decay naturally.

TAIL controls what is ringing inside the space; DECAY TIME controls how long the door stays open before the gate shuts it. Push it toward the classic explosive gated-room sound, or use gentler ducking and a longer gate window for a large space that stays clear around drums and other transients — then shape what's left with CHARACTER, OVERTONES and ANALOG.

Highlights

  • Dedicated independent reverb engine
  • Transient-triggered DUCK control
  • Adjustable THRESHOLD for duck engagement
  • OVERTONES adds harmonic shimmer from the reverb core
  • Wet-bus makeup gain keeps the reverb at a useful level across the MIX range
  • Internal soft limiter protects final output
  • EXPORT MODE — 4x oversampling for higher-quality final renders
