What it does

Super Stutter continuously records the incoming signal into a rolling tape buffer, then slices time into tempo-locked cells that can repeat, hold or reverse what was captured, while a varispeed tape head simultaneously pushes the playback up or down by as much as two octaves, so pitch and rhythm are always designed together rather than separately.

SHAPE, DECAY and SMOOTHING sculpt the envelope of each rhythmic event, SWING loosens the grid off a strict machine pulse, and a resonant ladder filter sweeps with the pattern itself rather than sitting static behind it. Treated as a programmable rhythmic instrument rather than a fixed effect, it moves from precise chopping to pitched, broken-tape texture without ever leaving the host tempo.

Highlights

  • Tempo-synced gate/stutter cells
  • Division-based timing
  • SHAPE control from linear to strongly exponential response
  • Asymmetric SMOOTHING keeps attacks faster while softening decay
  • Thin/extreme shape settings intentionally retain their natural level behaviour rather than being automatically loudness-normalised
  • EXPORT MODE — 4x oversampling for higher-quality final renders
